COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister of Justice and National Integration Attorney Harshana Nanayakkara announced the presentation of three significant bills aimed at strengthening Sri Lanka’s legal and economic framework.
He told Parliament on Wednesday (04) that the Proceeds of Crime Bill, the Rescue and Rehabilitation and Insolvency Bill, and amendments to the Audit Act are set to be introduced to promote financial integrity and stability.
The Proceeds of Crime Bill aims to enhance efforts to recover stolen assets and trace the proceeds of criminal activities, with a focus on deterring money laundering, drug trafficking, and related offenses.
The Rescue and Rehabilitation and Insolvency Bill and amendments to the Audit Act are designed to improve creditors’ confidence and safeguard debtors' rights by establishing clearer regulations and uniform practices.
