COLOMBO (News 1st)' A complaint was lodged today (14) with the Criminal Investigation Department, seeking justice for Sub-Inspector Rohitha Priyadarshana, who was murdered in 1990 while serving as the OIC of the Crimes Division of the Sapugaskanda Police.
The complaint was filed by Palitha Manuwarna, the brother of the slain officer.
"Rohitha Priyadarshana, the Crime OIC of Sapugaskanda Police, was brutally murdered on February 20, 1990, at the Batalanda torture chamber. To this day, justice has not been served for my brother. The mastermind behind this, Ranil Wickremesinghe, along with the notorious Douglas Peiris and his gang, operated under Wickremesinghe's command. I demand the immediate arrest of him and OIC Keerthi Athapattu. I am here today to seek justice for my brother. The CID recorded my statement for about three hours, along with the documents I submitted. I urge an immediate investigation into this 35-year-old incident to ensure justice is served," he told reporters.
The Batalanda Commission Report has also highlighted the case of Sub-Inspector Rohitha Priyadarshana, drawing significant attention to his murder.
In 1990, Rohitha Priyadarshana was serving as the OIC Of the Crimes Division at the Sapugaskanda Police Station.
He was instrumental in solving numerous crimes, including several major thefts and other serious offenses in the Kelaniya division.
