Ella-Wellawaya Road Blocked, Motorists Advised to Detour

COLOMBO (News 1st); An earth slip has caused significant disruptions to vehicle movement on the Ella-Wellawaya main road. 

The incident occurred near the 12th-kilometer mark at Karandagolla, according to police reports.

The police have advised motorists to use alternative routes until the road is cleared and restored to its normal condition. 

Drivers are requested to take the Bandarawela-Uva Karandagolla route via Ambadandegama as an alternative.

E.L.M. Udaya Kumara, the Deputy Director of Disaster Management for the Badulla District, stated that a scientific investigation is being conducted to assess the ongoing risk.
